Suggest Treatment For Severe Progressive Pain In Feet While Standing
Question: I have been having severe pain in both of my feet. Mainly in my heels and big toe joint. I have relief when I sit down, but the pain comes back worse when I stand back up. Could this possibly be gout or heel spurs?
Brief Answer:
Foot strain
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for your question. At your age it is unlikely to be gout or a spur issue.
The commonest cause in this case would be a strain of the soft tissues along the medial side of the foot. This could be a strain of the plantar ligament or the medial arch of the foot. If you have slightly flat feet then a strain of the arch is more likely.
Sometiemes seeing a podiatrist can help with these issues. Wearing a simple arch support can also help. Make sure you have comfortable shoes - for example a running shoe or a tennis shoe.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes.
