Suggest Treatment For Severe Scarring In Wind Pipe Due To Cough

Question: Hi i have serve scaring in my wind pope from years of coughing as a result of being a heavy smoker,a Dr has told me my lungs are not good but can help by placing eg. "FISHERS" in the most damaged side of my left ling top an bottom.
Howevere my air flow out is getting harder an is there anything that can be done,to the Scaring in my Windpipe

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
You are basically having smoking induced poor lung function. And it is now more complicating due to scarring in the lungs.
This actually cause dynamic obstruction especially in obstruction.
So you are not able to expire air completely and due to this air trapping is there.
This air trapping cause further damage and scarring.
So it is kind of vicious cycle.

Inhaled bronchodilators are keeping the airways open and thus prevent air trapping.

Since you are already taking inhaled bronchodilators, the only option left is placing FISHERS.
They are mechanical device placed in bronchial tube . It keeps bronchi open. So obstruction at expiration is prevented.

It is latest option in treatment of smoking related lung damage.

You will be benefitted by this, so no harm in get it done.
