Suggest Treatment For Severe Shivering When Diagnosed With Typhoid

Question: Hi Doctor
My mother has been diagnosed with typhoid ...doctor has advised toxim 400 mg and do lo 650 mg
In the day time she is fine but there is shivering in the night time. Pls advice.

Hi,

Without clinical examination, it's difficult to know the cause of shivering and its treatment. However typhoid is know to present with temperature rise in the evening and chills and shivering develops with fever. Probably the shivering is due to typhoid.

May I know for how long is she on taxim. Continue medications as instructed by your doctor. Monitor temperature and check if she has fever. Encourage her to drink plenty of fluids.

With appropriate medications, typhoid settles down in 7-10 days. She will get better with right treatment.
