default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: Internal shoulder pain since 2005
Met several othopedics and physiothreapist, but no relief.
MRI, Sonogrpah and Xray report doesnt show any bone related injury, all looks normal.

Even tried ayurvedic medicines , but no luck
Situation worsen under some typical movement with my left shoulder, for eg. i cant hold XXXXXXX for more than few min with my left hand.

cant perform any exercise,

I can only think this injury must have happened during some exercise , apart from this no known injury happened to me.

Brief Answer:
Can be rotator cuff tendonitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent pain and inability to do some actions with no bone injury is suggestive of a soft tissue inflammation or an injury. This can happen due to overuse also.
It seems to be Rotator cuff tendonitis or shoulder impingement syndrome which causes irritation and inflammation of the rotator cuff and the bursa when doing activity and hence pain.
You need to get an MRI scan done which is a more sensitive test for soft tissue and muscular injuries. An Orthopedician is the best person to be consulted.

Here are some general treatment measures which you can follow:

1) Provide complete rest and avoid overhead activities.
2) Apply cold compresses and take some anti inflammatory pain killer after consulting your doctor.

If the symptoms are severe then after confirming the diagnosis by MRI, you may need steroid injections or surgical arthroscopic technique (kept as last resort).
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

First of all , i would like to thank you Dr XXXXXXX for your recommendations/suggestions.

So let me give you the summary of the tests/treatment thatrs i had taken in past 10 yrs -
problem started around 2005, since then below are the tests/treatment i took
-MRI Scan twice [ can upload its result if needed]
-steroid injections into shoulder
-physiotherapy - 3 month [ asian heart institute]
-consulted many orthopedic[ e.g Dr Laud shushurusha hosp Dadar]
-Tried ayurvedic medicine as well.
-In these yrs i have not been doing any exercise with this hand/shoulder.

Is there any tests which can conclusively tell me the problematic area .e g. rotator cuff/muscular area ,etc.Because it looks like , in these years i took so much treatment just based on the experience/assumptions

let me know if i can upload all my tests/medicine details to provide more insight into the treatment that i had taken.

Brief Answer:
Upload MRI scan report.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It is best to upload your MRI report and get a recent MRI scan done as the pain is persistent. MRI scan is the only way to find out any soft tissue inflammation in the area.
Hope my answer is helpful.
