Suggest Treatment For Severe Sneezing And Sore Throat
Thanks XXXX
Allergic rhinitis. Very common. There is no need to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. These are the symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis. This is very common. There is no need to worry.
2. Get a prescription form a local doctor for once a day anti-allergic combination of an anti-histamine (such as fexofenadine. levocetirizine or cetirizine) and an anti-leukotriene (such as montelukast). A once a day nasal steroid spray (such as mometasone or fluticasone) should be started. Regular steam inhalation, hypertonic saline nasal washes will help. Take a minimum trial of two weeks and revert back. Take this medication for at least two weeks and let me know the progress. If the relief is not satisfactory, get a plain Sinus CT scan done and upload the images here.
3. The next step is to check for specific allergies and avoid them for long term relief. This will require skin prick tests, blood tests (such as ImmunoCap and FoodPrint) and to rule out non-allergic rhinitis. This can be discussed once the symptoms are controlled.
4. Sneezing is commonly due to factors such as sensitivity to change in temperature (such as with open windows, cold breeze, fans and air conditioners), dust mite allergy and post nasal drip. I do recommend N95 rated face masks and air purifiers at home. The pain and soreness on the throat will settle down once the symptoms are controlled.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
