Question: I woke up with a severe sore throat mostly on both sides of my throat 10 days ago. I was around young grandchildren with colds. I was hoarse at first and then completely lost voice and have been barely speaking or whispering since Sunday. I had my tonsils removed as a child and can usually get rid of minor sore throats by gargling w/ peroxide and water. Never had one this severe or for this long. Hurts worse at night and coughing is worse at night. which of course irritates it more. Throughout the day I have mild cold symptoms with runny nose and slight coughing. No fever, chest congestion or body aches. In generally great health and on no medications. Was in the Bahamas when this began and has continued since I arrived home Saturday and getting no better. Today the burning is more severe on one side of throat than the other. Was the same on each side till this point.

I'm not using any medicine and the throat picture isn't very good but I did send it.
