Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat
I am not sure what specialist to try now, but I have had on-going throat pain from Globus, to a slight low grade irritation, every day now for 4 months. I have been to ENT's, had an endoscopy to rule out reflux, had a thyroid biopsy to rule out issues with my thyroid, and have absolutely no diagnosis, and don't know where to turn. I get slight relief from my symptoms when I take ativan, but basically I am living with a chronic sore throat. Please help!
Globus Hystericus

Good evening
Thank you for writing on health care magic
Well, I have gone through your history and the previous records. I understand they have ruled out any pathological cause due to any problem in the throat or due to acid reflux. I am not sure if endoscopy has been performed, but yes acid reflux is a common cause of constant sore throat which you may not even realize it, but during sleep it can cause a little bit of irritation.
I would like to know a few more details before concluding about the cause...
1. Do you have any difficulty in swallowing?? or painful swallowing?
2. Any fever recently??
3. Did they do a throat wall culture or was a swab sent for any bacterial infection?
4. Any recent history of travel?
5. How high are the stress levels in your daily routine??
We need to focus on a few things: firstly, always rule out a reflux. That can be best elicited by endoscopy or a manometry. If that is clear, second possibility is an infection( like by streptococcus) which has to be demonstrated by a throat swab. ( But it is rare in your country as compared to developing countries). Lastly , if no pathological cause is found it is mostly labelled as Globus hystericus
But do let me know these details before I can guide you further
