Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat
Question: Sore throat comes and goes after possible sinus infection a month ago. The sore throat was really bad for a couple of weeks along with crusty eyes they called pibk eye. I took amox clav and eye drop antibiotics. Pink eye is gone but cough persists although less frequent and when i have a stressful day its usually followed by a sore throat. Not sure why it keeps coming back. I don't think its allergies never had it before. Also i had not been sick for 5 years prior but im also a tad worried i migh have hiv, unprotected sex about 4 years ago. Just worried cuz the cough and sore throat wont go away. Should i have tests done, if so which ones.

From what you are saying, the sore throat could be related to:
- strep throat infection (tonsillitis) : culture of throat swab is needed
- Candida infection of mouth post antibiotics treatment: culture of mouth swab for Candida
- stomach hyperacidity especially if you're having burning, pain or fullness feeling
Antibiotics alone can't help. I advise to take as following apart advised lab tests:
- oral antiseptic
- gargle with warm water and salt
- gargle with olive oil, honey can also help
- antihistaminic
- if productive coughing (sputum), mucolytic like carbocystein can help
- antacids can also help
Complete blood count and RCP, antistreptolysin for a complete check up.
