Brief Answer:
Could be a cardiac symptom

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
Ankle swelling with shortness of breath on exertion could be a sign of cardiac illness. I'll advice you for a ECG & 2D Echo, to evaluate the heart status.
Ankle swelling alone could also be because of inflammation of local joint which could be osteoarthritis, gout. I would recommend a X Ray of that joint & uric acid level.
Metallic taste in mouth is generally a side effect of certain medication like metronidazole. It could also be present sometimes without any cause.
I hope this answers your query. If you have any more question, I'll be happy to help.
Thanks & take care

Thank you so much. I will set up an appointment with my Doctor. I just wanted to have some idea before I called him so I could explain myself better... if that makes any sense.
Thank you again
