Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

If there is an infection in your throat such as strep this will usually respond to penicillin or amoxicillin. Since you are currently taking amoxicillin this should be adequate to help eliminate a bacterial infection.

It is also possible that a viral infection may be causing some of the soreness in your throat. In that case it will usually run its course within about 5 to 7 days.

I would recommend that you continue the amoxicillin as prescribed. Also focus on good hydration. Get plenty of rest. You might also try ibuprofen for relief of some of your pain.

If your symptoms do not improve within about one week then I would recommend that you contact your primary care doctor for further instructions.

Thanks again for sending the question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
