Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat Pain While On Augmentin

Question: have had pain in the left side of my throat like in the back of the tonsil for 4 weeks now. pain sometimes goes to my left ear, been on augmentin for 2 weeks with no relief. sometimes I try to swallow hard just to chek if the pain is still there and theres times that it does not hurt but as I keep swallowing it will hurt again. I do not feel any lumps at all, had a ct scan done and dr said there is inflamation of lymph nodes. What should I try now to get some relief? do you think I should see a local ENT doctor?
Brief Answer:
Consult ENT specialist
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Based on the symptoms you have I believe its the tonsillar inflammation only.
Tonsillitis is one condition which can be recurrent and present episodic pain in the throat as you describe.
Consult an ENT specialist, treating you with a better antibiotic after a swap culture and antibiotic sensitivity test would be best management.
Meanwhile do gargle with antiseptic solutions like CHLOHEX thrice daily.
Wish you good health.
