Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
I have read your query regarding your sister's throat pain.
Severe throat pain, weakness with history of fever are likely due to inflammation of throat which is because of upper respiratory infection (like pharyngitis, laryngitis, epiglotitis).
Usually, severe throat pain is due to viral infection, but in some cases it is related to bacterial infection (streptococcal pharyngitis).
Your sister is likely to be having viral upper respiratory infection.
She can try below mentioned symptomatic treatment for some relief.
1) She can continue to take pain killers with anti-inflammatory combination (like Nicip plus, Nimesulide 100mg with paracetamol 500mg combination) twice or thrice daily for throat pain which is available over the counter.
It will also help to reduce further inflammation in throat and thereby will help to subside symptoms quickly.
2) Antihistamines like levocetrizine 10 mg or allegra (fexofenadine 120) twice daily if she has a dry cough or throat irritation.
3) Nebulization with steam inhalation 2 to 3 times a day will also be helpful for symptomatic relief.
4) Warm salt water gargles or antiseptic (chlorhexidine) mouth gargles will be helful.
5) Probably antibiotics will not require here since it looks to be having a viral infection.
6) Avoid cold water or any other cold products like ice-cream or soft drink because doing so, may cause further inflammation in throat.
7) Also give her vitamin supplements (vitamin B complex, folic acid) and plenty of water with fruit juices which will take care of weakness.
We may expect to see improvement within couple of more days with above symptomatic treatment and in case if NOT then it would be advisable to see some local or ENT specialist doctor for further evaluation.
Hope this will help you and get back to me with more information as I asked.
Thanks and Regards,
