Brief Answer:
Do not be a worried Mum please...and refrain from TOO much Internet

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon.

Your son is far too young to be suffering from what I suspect you are trying NOT to say but certainly alluding to as MOTOR neuron disease or ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). The presentation of that entity anyways typically begins in the legs and not the arms.

If he is an athlete it is not at all uncommon for there to be muscle twitches now and again especially if he lifts heavy weights regularly. Now, here is something I would find out from your son which could be related. Do you know...or are you willing to ask him if he takes any PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS such as anabolic steroids, etc. These medications can induce a whole variety of problems including atrophy, weakness, and other things so if I were you I would make a serious inquiry that I'm sure he'll allow you to since you are doing it out of concern.

If you do discover that he is injecting or ingesting such drugs then, the fix would be to simply stop using whatever he has and then, wait for effects to reverse themselves.

Otherwise, he may be discovered by the neurologist to have a condition known as BENIGN FASCICULATION SYNDROME (BFS) and this is quite benign and self limited and often time disappears after a time.

If I've satisfactorily addressed your question then, could you do me the kindest of favors by CLOSING THIS QUERY and be sure to include some fine words of feedback and a 5 STAR rating to our transaction if you feel the response has helped you? Again, many thanks for posing your question.
