Question: I have these episodes where my stomach feels like there is a ball in the top near the center at the top of my stomach. I really think it's gas but I had to vomit three times already but it still hurts?

Brief Answer:
Reducing stomach acidity might help- please see the following advices

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.

Stomach discomfort can be caused but different diseases and the two most common ones are: viral gastroenteritis which is called also stomach flu which causes stomach discomfort, nausea and even vomiting for a few days and subsides spontaneously and gastritis/ulcer that is more chronic in nature and might cause similar symptoms for longer time and might be in episodes also.

In both cases there are similar things that might help:

1. Make sure you take frequent small amount of food and fluids, trying to not overload your stomach.

2. If vomiting goes on than make sure you get some oral rehydration solutions.

3. Avoid spicy, fat and fried food and have more fruit and vegetables.

4. Do not smoke or use alcohol (if at all do)- they make stomach symptoms worse

5. Reducing stomach acidity with antacids for a few days might bring release of the symptoms.
Ranitidine twice a day or omeprazole twice a day are also very effective for acid reduction in the stomach but should not be used together with antacids.

6. If no improvement with the above care especially with the antacids than we might need to consider abdominal ultrasound to rule out gall bladder problems and sometimes gastroscopy to check for ulcer disease and H.Pylori test (H Pylori is a common cause of ulcer disease and when it is present in the stomach we need to prescribe also antibiotics together with medication against acid)

7. If you have black dark stools this is also very important and you will need to see a doctor soon.

Hope this is helpful and answers to your questions. Feel free to ask further
I wish you quick recovery.

Kind Regards
