Suggest Treatment For Severe Vaginal Itch While On Ciprofloxacin
Question: Hello, how are you DR Patil?
This is xxxxxxxxx. I had consulted you before regarding my current condition. I am still having abit of pain when i urine, and now even when i ejaculate i felt abit of burning the burning had subsidized alot compared when first interacted or infected.....
as i have been drinking urine alkalinizer(Ural) and ciprofloxacin for 3 1/2 months now, i am prescribed by my doctor in KL for 6 months, and will continue again for another 2 1/2 months more to go... i have just called up my doctor just now and he asked me to take harnal ocas again for 6 months also.... and to continue taking the antibiotics. i am just wondering what should i do next?? as i am still having itchy at my pubic hair area.... but nothing found like scars, or etc.... the foul smell still exist when i perspire... what caused this?? what should i do,,,, can i keep on taking the antibiotics again even after the next 2 1/2 months....

In continuation to our previous thread on your issues it is not advisable to take Ciprofloxacin for such a long period without having any positive evidence of infection and sensitivity of organisms to Ciprofloxacin .
I would suggest to stop both Ciprofloxacin and Tomsulosin (Harnal Ocas ) immediately and do
1) Urine culture
2) Semen culture to trace out any organisms .
Looking at the mild nature of your symptoms I would suggest you to take Nitrofurantoin twice daily and switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .

As of your question, yes i did urine culture and it seems that the organisms is sensitive to ciprofloxacin and that why i am suggested to take ciprofloxacin... i did a VDRL test,,,urine test and thats why i am asked to take ciprofloxacin by the urologist. i thought so. and i experienced significant improvement after taking ciprofloxacin. before this i took another different antibiotics for 2 months,,,,since i experienced first symptoms just the first time since i contracted this bacteria,,,, i took leprofloxacin as i have no idea what to do,,,, because i live in a small city and the machine is not so advanced compared to KL there is no way for the machine to detect the sensitivity of the organisms... then after 2 months late i went to KL to see,,, there i was given the medicines which i told you before in the previous thread, given zithromax,, anti-bacteria and etc... and ciprobay for 1 week, told to continue again for 3 months then again for another 3 months which rounded up for 6 months. now my current situation is still abit of foul smell, and mild burning sensation when i urine..befire is pain now not so much pain already.... and also when the bladder empties the residual urine is also mild burning sensation... i think that is quite an improvement. but what i do not understand is that where the itchyness comes from? and how to get rid of the burning sensation when my bladder empties and also the ejaculation.... all experienced significant improvement..... i am told to take harnal ocas now for 6 months.. is this more of inflammation then infection? i am confused. please advise me

However there is no reason why you should be advised Ciprofloxacin for 6 months .
Since you have symptomatic improvement I would suggest to repeat urine culture and take a call about taking antibiotic .
For foul smell and itching consult qualified Dermatologist for necessary treatment ,
As regards burning after urination take Flavoxate twice daily for 2 weeks .
