Brief Answer:
Prostate enlargement with UTI is possible cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxx and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, I can understand your concern.
Your father does have a prostate gland enlargement, with significant residual urine. That could've lead to urinary infection (UTI).
He should get examined by an urologist and do the following tests:
1. urine culture.
2. blood routine, creatinine, PSA,RBS,LFT and platelets.
3. uroflowmetry test.
He should continue with an Alfa-blocker, which has been started.
According to reports and his response to treatment, further advice can be given.
Wishing him well.

Thanks doctor for the response. I need one clarification, given prostate enlargement has no effect of prostate cancer. Correct ? Please advise.
Brief Answer:
prostate gland cancer screening needs to be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxx,
Prostate gland cancer test needs to be done. That's why i advised, to see an Urologist.
They're mainly threefold :
1. Urologist does a DRE (digital rectal examination ).
2. PSA. blood test.
3. TRUS.(trans rectal ultrasound scan).
These reports, will give an idea about the possibility of a prostate cancer.
It certainly needs to be done.
Wish him well.
