Suggest Treatment For Sharp Hip Pain
Question: Intermittent sharp pain in the back left side, midway between bottom or ribs and top of hip some movements exacerbate it pain is increasing over time

2. Usually, there's a suspicion of Acute Pancreatitis induced by Gall stones or alcohol.

Dr Metri,
My alcohol consumption is moderate and the attacks don’t seem related to the times I am consuming.
No scans, though I have a urology follow up shortly
The problem has been increasing in severity about a month
I don’t have any jaundice or bleeding in stools or urine.
My concerns are kidney infection, kidney or gall stones,
Other concern is I have been on Diclofenac for arthritis post polio for about 4 years. Could the pain be related to kidney issues from that medicine

1. Good that your pain is not related to alcohol, then we can rule out pancreatitis..
2. Long term Diclofenac is known to cause peptic ulcers in the stomach and Duodenum. Even moderate amount of alcohol acts synergistic to this process.
3. Suggest you these following things.
A. Avoid or reduce coffee, tea, alcohol
B. Plenty of fluids orally
C. Ultrasound Abdomen, this will tell us kidney or gall bladder stones.
D. You can use proton pump inhibitors for symptomatic relief.
