Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In Lower Abdominal Area And Eczema

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Sep 2016
Question: My 12 year son has been involuntarily vomiting either when he is eating or right after eating for the past 3 weeks, off and on. I think it is food allergy. Tonight he was eating a burrito. Poor kid. He's an active boy, plays tons of sports, etc. He is exhausted afterwards. He also clears his throat quite a bit. His pediatrician thinks that is an allergy. I have not spoken to the doctor about the throwing up part as it started recently. Thoughts? Wheat allergy?

Also, he had rolling sharp pain in his lower stomach last week. He was sent home from school sick. He could not sit up very well without pain. It did pass with in a few hours.

One last thing, he has always had eczema. It is fairly mild.

Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Vomiting right after eating or during eating with history of allergies and eczema and frequent throat clearing could be allergies or food poisoning. Stomach flu also known as gastroenteritis is also a possibility. 3 weeks time is however more than enough for the vomiting to persist. I would like him to get evaluated for some baseline work up and managed conservatively. oral rehydration is mainstay of therapy, electrolytes solutions like pedialyte etc along with some domperidone tablet or syrup should also help. Take some pepto and tums for the pain . Avoid dairy, spices, chocolates, processed and canned products. More fiber, yogurt with peppermint should help.

I hope it helps. Take good care of him and yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
