Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Lower Left Abdominal Area

default
Posted on Tue, 9 May 2017
Question: Hi there. I am a 23 year old female. 3 days ago I started having a dull pain in my lower left abdomen for no apparent reason. Over the past 2 days it has gotten worse and now it's a sharp pain, present at all times. Sometimes worse than others. It hurts when I breathe in, move wrong, and the worst when I apply pressure to my left side. I don't have any vomiting and haven't noticed any fevers. Any idea what this could be?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank You for trusting HealthcareMagic

Acute onset lower abdominal pain in a female of reproductive age require further evaluation for ovarian cyst/torsion (Large cysts can cause the ovaries to twist on its pedicle resulting in decreased blood supply), ectopic pregnancy (when embryo implants outside uterus, usually on fallopian tubes), Urinary tract infection, ureteric stones and pelvic inflammatory disease. (bacterial infection of uterus, tubes and ovaries, may present without fever).

Physical examination, Pelvic examination, Blood tests including Beta HCG(to rule out pregnancy, Urine analysis and culture, Vaginal swab and culture, pelvic ultrasound is required at this point to come to a definite diagnosis.

Please be advised to go to the emergency room as soon as possible to undergo proper evaluation.Meanwhile, you can take Tylenol for pain.
All the diagnosis mentioned above need prompt medical attention.

Hope I was able to help you
