Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Based on the history and your description, sharp pain in throat with tongue swelling is not something that should be ignored for follow up.
The airway patency must be ensured and the throat should be examined to rule out any cause that may compromise the airway. If there is any reactive inflammation or doubt regarding an allergic response then hydrocortisone inj or adrenaline shot based on severity should be administered.
Please visit an ER near you immediately to allay the concerns.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks

Please consult your doctor before deciding on any further course of action.

What I should have mentioned was that in September 2014,I tripped over backwards, and managed to twist enough to prevent worse damge, and roll so that I landed on my left forearm. It was onto paving, and th jolt gave me problems with my left shoulder, and neck (probably a bit like whiplash) I still have some pain in my shoulder at night, and my neck. I wondered if it might be cconnected to it. (I had an injection in my shoulder about 15 months ago to help ease the pain)
I have had the feeling of swollen tongue , really for all the time I have been taking statins- Around 6 years ago I had an endoscopy to check my throat owing to a little heartburn, and was then put on omneprezole, which seemed to stop it,and that was put down to the statins, at that time- I did forget to mention that I still take 10mg omneprezole. My neck and shoulder, on my left side are still giving me some pain.
I will going to my doctor , when I can get an appointment, but I have looked up the various sympons, and assked you, prior to that appointment - Meanwhile, I have been taking salt water gargles, twice a day, in case it is just a viral issue.

Hello again.
In the previous question as the airway patency was an important issue and should not have been ignored so prompt action was advised.

I thank you for your help, and I will be seeing my doctor soon, and hope to resolve it, and will continue with salt gargles until my appointment, it appears to be helping.
Unfortunately, my Doctor retired about a year and a half ago, and my previous Doctor to her retired about 6 years ago. Both of these were very good Doctors, and have only just been allocated a replacement, because of our National Health situation lately.
I understand your replies , and appreciate your input.
