Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain On Top Of Foot

Diagnosis may take some time and patience ma'am, possibilities listed
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Taking your age, presentation and sex into consideration there are a few conditions/abnormalities that need to be ruled out that are on top of the list. As you must know ma'am, post-menopausal women have weaker bones and skeletal structures due to the drop in bone density (which is primarily due to the lowered hormone production in the body post-menopause). Along with there, there are other conditions that develop in the elderly population and also some conditions that are diet related.
I would thus recommend the following investigations, without which reaching a diagnosis would indeed be a shot in the dark and inaccurate, they are:
+Physical examination: To look for any signs of trauma, injury, nerve or muscle weakness, palpable callluses, discolouration of skin, etc.
+Blood glucose profile: Diabetes causes a reduced blood supply to the peripheries resulting in pain and at times even inflammation in the feet
+X-ray of the affected foot (which I am assuming is your left foot): Will provide information on calluses, inflammation from conditions like arthritis, gout, bone weakness (osteoporosis), etc.
+Serum uric acid level: Diet related, this elevation can cause the development of bone osteopaths and even a condition like gout
+Serum calcium level
+Serum vitamin D level
+DEXA bone scan: Only if all the above investigations do not yield sufficient amount of information to amount to a diagnosis, and allow the initiation of treatment
I hope you understand why the investigations are required. I also hope all the conditions I have listed above are clear. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, as I am always here to help ma'am.
Best wishes.
