Question: For the past two weeks I have been experiencing a lot of mucus in my throat. I have had boats of shortness of breath.
I am a dialysis patient but have been at below dry weight.

I use to have asthma 35 years ago.

I am suffering from mucas overload and sometimes trouble swallowing. I also have a pain in my left lung.

I am afraid to go to sleep as I sometimes wake up gasping for air. What is this?

Brief Answer:
Get done PFT and chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, we should rule out bronchitis and lung infection.
Because both of these cause similar symptoms.
So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and Chest x ray.
PFT is needed for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
Chest x ray is needed for the diagnosis of lung infection.
Please let me know if you are taking diuretics or not.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
