Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Amlodipine
Question: I have been given Amlodapine 10 mg for HP. It has caused edema, flushing, headache and slow thinking.
I have a low heart rate and the
propanalol I was taking was bringing my HR even lower. I have essential tremors and I believe the Amlodapine was increasing the tremors. I also have vision blurring. What else can I try that will bring my Systolic pressure down. I have tried Lisinopril also. I am very sensitive to the drugs.

Brief Answer:
Moxonidine would be a choice
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
The side effects you experienced are not uncommon with Amlodepine.
Moxonidine (Physiotens ) would be a good medicine for systolic hypertension and does not have the side effects you mentioned. You could start with 0.2 mg which may need to be increased depending on the response.
Do get back to me if you have queries.

I have a low heart rate Bradycardia. Can I still take this drug? My heart rate will drop into the 40's=anywhere from 48 down to 41. The 41 rate has only happened a couple of times. Most of the time it will be about 46 to 48. I am not supposed to take NSAids for pain. What other pain killers can I take?
I needed to clarify that last statement. My heart rate occasionally drops into the 40's mostly 46 to 48, however, it has been as low as 41. It has only been at 41 a couple of times since March

Brief Answer:
Can you upload your EKG
Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the delay in reply as we are in two different time zones.
Does your EKG show the reason for the bradycardia? Is it sinus bradycardia or is there a heart block? Does your heart rate increase when you exercise and up to what number usually?
Moxonidine might affect the heart rate and that is why I suggested the lowest dose to start with.
If your heart rate increases with exercise and you have no symptoms, it may not matter. The legendary tennis player Bjorn Borg had a heart rate of 35 at the peak of his career.
NSAID retain salt and raise the blood pressure indirectly. You can use paracetamol or opioid depending on the degree of pain.

My heart rate increases with exercise and there is no heart blockage. It will go up to 100 during exercise. Walking fast it will be about 70 to 80. Cardio exercise it will be higher. My normal heart rate is usually around 55.
Brief Answer:
Thanks
Detailed Answer:
That is good.
So physiotens may help you control the blood pressure better.
Do get back if it dos not help.
Wish you good health and a great day
