Brief Answer:
Zyban

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I am so very sorry to hear about your son. As a mom, I send you my sympathy.

If you have recently had side effects from the Chantex, probably best not to use it again right now. There are other medications for smoking cessation that decrease the psychological urge to smoke, and also can help with feeling blue from not smoking. The oldest medication used for this is the antidepressant bupropion (for smoking it is called Zyban). Initially, you can continue to smoke while taking the Zyban in the first week or two, although the combination can make people a little jittery or shaky. You can also use a nicotine patch system for nicotine withdrawal once you stop the cigarettes.

I hope this information helps.

Thank you very much. Was thinking not enough water, and was going to try again. the e-cigs have the nicotine, and not all the other chemicals. Are they safe to use?

Brief Answer:
I would not advise e-cigs

Detailed Answer:
Electronic cigarettes looked like they would be a good thing, but it turns out there are a number of harmful and potentially carcinogenic chemicals in e-cigarettes including formaldehyde. In addition, it would be a good idea to get away from the nicotine as well. Nicotine patch tapering kits would be a better idea. I know quitting cigarettes is very hard. I've had patients who have quit heroin but had a harder time staying off of cigarettes. But it can be done.

If you think the problem while on the Chantex was a temporary dehydration, then you can try it again.
