Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Levothyroxine
Question: I have been taking levothyroxine for several years and have had rasges and extreme itching skin. I see that this med can cause these problems. My demitologest has found no remedy. Can you add to my knowledge?

Noted your concern. the symptoms you mentioned could be a primary skin condition rather than due to levothyroxine. However ,,at the same time I must acknowledge that any medicine can cause allergic reactions. The best way in thus situation would be to stop taking levothyroxine for couple of weeks and observe if there is any improvement in your skin condition. (don't stop levothyroxine for more than 2 werks). It may be also prudent to think about a skin biopsy if the itching and rashes continues despite stopping levothyroxine.Hypothyrodism is mostly an auto immune condition and other auto immune skin conditions may be associated with it which has to be ruled out.
