Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Losartan

Question: Hi there:) I've been having Angiodema pretty often,hives a few times.Been on Losartan HTCZ several years,could it be this.Only other allergy is Biactin and dust mites.:) Thanks!

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Yes as you doubted rightly almost 20 to 25% of patients do develop hypersensitive reaction to losartan resulting in allergic reactions and angioedema and hives. You could be one of them.
It will be better if you hold the drug and change to some other group of antihypertensive meds other than this.
Also I hope you are avoiding the known allergens for you as you have mentioned in your question.
You could try shifting to amlodipine 5mg or 10mg depending on your BP.
Consult your doctor regarding changing of the antihypertensive drug and see whether it reduces the incidences of allergic reactions.
