Question: I am wondering if there is anything I can take to alleviate continual nausea due to taking metoprolol, which I started on Wednesday evening, half a 25 mg tablet morning and evening. Also taking 40 mg lisinopril and low dose aspirin. Blood pressure very high. Waiting for angiogram appointment.

Brief Answer:
Using it for 1-2 week may decrease the symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

Usually the first response against side effects of a drug us to stop that drug but, Based on the history you have shared, and drugs you are taking, none of these can be stopped without having significant or striking reasons as all of them are critical keeping in view the blood pressure control being difficult without these and also keeping in view the heart symptoms. Nausea of such intensity is rare with these however, even if it is their and you can tolerate it, I would suggest you to continue using these unless after angiogram report of cardiologists asks to stop it. The symptoms may decrease after usage of 1-2 weeks as gastrointestinal symptoms usually settle in with long term usage of a drug. Motility agents like domperidone may also help. Avoiding aromatic hydrocarbons contain diets and greasy diets and fizzy drinks should be avoided. Using mouth fresheners or mouth washes may also help to decrease the adversity of the discomfort faced by these. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
