Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Paxil

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Apr 2016
Question: I've been off of Paxil for five days now due to a lapse in health insurance, and I'm experiencing pretty rough side effects. What can I do? I do have some Xanex, would this help me until my coverage kicks back in March first?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Paxil withdrawal, as you now know, is rapid and very unpleasant. Unfortunately, the only way to really treat it is to resume Paxil or another antidepressant to increase the serotonin in your brain. Xanax may help a bit, but Xanax also leads to rebound anxiety which may make it worse. I would advise you to rest, drink plenty of fluids, and in 2-3 days it should be over.
