Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Wysolone
Question: I have ILD and have been on wysolone for three years - 5 mg daily for 1.5 years. My bones ache and I feel like there is water retention. My pulmonologist is reluctant to stop this medicine - my GP says this is a physiological dose and can be taken for life - is this correct? I want to reduce dosage to 2.5 mg and then stop it all together - what would be symptoms and risks of lowering dose and stopping?
Brief Answer:
Yes, you should definitely reduce the dose and stop the drug.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No, you should not continue wysolone , you should definitely stop it. None of the newer guidelines for ILD recommends long term steroids. So better to stop wysolone. There is nothing like physiological dose of wysolone.
You won't get any symptoms or side effects if you lower and stop wysolone.
You should start perfinex and N acetyl cystine (NAC) for ILD as these are the newer recommended drugs in all guidelines.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
