Question: I have been on bc for almost 5 years. I had sex last week and 7 days later, my ears became plugged and I got dizzy while working out. I have taken my bc for more than 7 continuous days but my concern is it did not work. I kept it in a 50-55 degree car overnight (about 10hrs) and I also held the plastic pack next to my coffee one morning for about 3 min. my concern is that low temperature in the car and the warm coffee next to the pills made it ineffective.

Brief Answer:
No, the pills should still be okay!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

Pills can really tolerate a wide range of temperatures. Besides, the time of exposure is not that great for me to be so worried about a possible total inefficacy of the drug. It is okay and will not fail you on this front. However, please, always keep your drugs as recommended by the manufacturers so as to spare yourself similar worries in future.

I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

thank you. I was concerned that the exposures made my pills ineffective because of the dizzyness I felt 7 days after sex, as it could be a pregnancy sign. I had a withdrawl bleed in September and sex only once since then.

Brief Answer:
Very very minimal, if at all!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Having reviewed your information. There is just no chance of getting pregnant. However, no BC method is 100% effective. I will only say the residual risk is that linked to the inherent failure of your BC and not because you might have damaged your pills.

Keep me posted on what the outcome is. Am sure this is no pregnancy.

thank you for the timely response. I have been nervous ever since I heard you can withdrawl bleed and be pregnant, now I'm symptom searching. I believe I've taken all pills between 945 and 1015 pm each night.

Brief Answer:
Be calm!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I will say, be calm and not too long this will be over. I think you are being a lot more concerned about this than it really should be.

Thanks and keep me updated.
