Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection And Chest Congestion
Question: I had a bad sinus infection and chest congestion. I was spitting up dark green and yellow sputum and was prescribed the z pack. after 3-4 days I was feeling a lot better and was also taking mucinex dm for loosening up the sputum. I started feeling better but cannot kick the cough. it is now real light colored but mostly a tickle all day long that does not go away. I cough hard and long first thing in the morning and night until almost throwing up. I cough throughout the day. I feel fine and no fever now and have a refill for the z pack. should I start a second dose or just let it take its course. What can I take for the cough that wont make me drowsy?
Brief answer....given below
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understood your concern.
Tight phlegm does make it very difficult to spit it out.
you can do the following...
Repeat a second course of Z pack to take care of any residual infection.
Take steam inhalation twice a day.
Drink hot water, hot soups and hot liquids.
Both of above steps would loosen your phlegm.
Avoid cold and chilled drinks.
Carry on with your rest of medications.
You should find a reasonably good response with above mentioned measures and be all right in next 2-3 days.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
