Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection And Coughing
Yes,might lower the blood oxygen level following sinusitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
Sinusitis is a condition in which the sinuses in the nasal passage tend to get inflamed and cause a number of breathing disorders.
The breathing disorders in turn, cause energy levels to drop and create the general feeling of illness right through out the day and might lead to low oxygen saturation level in blood (below 95%).
The causes of sinusitis could be related to low body-oxygen levels i.e due to hyperventilation (breathing at least twice more than the medical norm).
Additional factors that reduce oxygen levels in cells are upper chest (thoracic) breathing and habitual mouth breathing.
Sinusitis can be triggered by viruses, bacteria, allergies and certain health conditions. It is known that over breathing leads to tissue hypoxia, suppresses the immune system and creates conditions for new infections and chronic inflammation.
Sinusitis can be treated with medicines like antibiotics, decongestant, antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs.
Surgery is not a must for everyone. But if sinusitis does not reduce with conservative medicines ,and if sinusitis is recurring very frequently, may be 3 episodes in 6 months then we advise for surgery
Specially,if the sinusitis is associated with nasal polyp, nasal mass, fungal sinusitis then also surgery is a must. Surgery for sinusitis is a endoscopic surgery.
Hope this answer will be helpful.
