Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection
Question: I have a sinus infection and clogged E tube. I'm on oral steroids and antibiotics but still have the fullness. How can I get rid of this quickly? It's very distracting and causing me not to be able to do my job. I was diagnosed with supperative otitis media as well as a sinus infection. I'm taking cefdinir and methylprednisolone. Have been taking these for 2 days. Is it appropriate to have my ear drum cut and the fluid auctioned out and if so. Where do I go for this?

Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query; and suggest you that first try the mucolytics such as acetyl cysteine 200 mg five times a day. Also, you may have fexofenadine & montelukast once a day with your ongoing treatment after consulting with your ENT specialist for at least three days.
If the symptoms improve then continue the conservative management otherwise consult with your ENT specialist for surgery.
But to rule out other disease and to reach the near diagnosis you may go for the impedance audiometry.
Information regarding the surgery related with your condition are grommets are tiny plastic tubes inserted into your ear drum in a short operation. Grommets may be recommended if you have glue ear that won't clear up, or frequent ear infections. It allows air into the space behind the ear drum (middle ear) which reduces the risk of fluid building up there.
Thus, you may go for this if medical line of management is not working for you.

I was able to take a photo of my eardrum. Is there any way I can send it to you? In looking at it, it appears that it may have ruptured through the night. There is not pain but still fullness. There is an area of black and yellow near the bottom that almost looks like a scab (the camera can't get the clearest image). Also, if it has ruptured, what do I do or how can I care for it or clear the fluid out? Thanks!!
