Okay, I will ask the Internet. I have a sinus problem due to prolonged drug use. I have been using one side of my nostril for many years. I noticed on the surface of my skin I can see an outline or a tracing that looks like a channel where my maxillary sinuse is located. It's inflamed and it hurts and burns. Feels like nerve damage or tissue damage. You know what can cause this channel like tracing to be noticed on the surface of my skin? Would it be an infection or something much worse?
I can send a photo if that helps.

Brief Answer:
CT scan of para nasal sinuses.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
As per your clinical details, it appears to be maxillary sinusitis secondary to deviated nasal septum. I would like to ask you few more details.
Are you on any medications (nasal drops)?
Please upload the picture and get back to be with the details so that I can able to comment on your present status.
Yes, prolonged usage of nasal decongestant drops can cause a medical condition called as rhinitis medicamentosa.
I suggest you to go for ENT consultation (rhinitis medicamentosa can be confirmed only through by clinical examination), CT scan of para nasal sinuses (anatomical abnormalities-deviated nasal septum, extent of pathology -sinusitis).
Hope, I have answered your query,
Take care.

Just want to be clear that the prolonged drug use is not only nasal drops but also illicit drug use.
Brief Answer:
stop, nasal drops.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
More than 7-10 days of usage of decongestants can cause dryness, crusting, and nasal obstruction. Local absorption also causes hypertension, glaucoma.
Other causes of nasal mucosal drying are tobacco, alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, anti-hypertensives, oral contraceptive pills and aspirin.
Please stop using nasal drops and recreational drugs.
All the best.
