Suggest Treatment For Sinusitis, Fluctuating Temperature And Rash On Chest And Arms

Question: I was diagnosed with sinus infection 3 days ago and put on Cipro 500mg twice a day... I am getting sicker, now in my chest, fever up and down, rash on my chest and arms, can hardly breathe. I have an ileostomy with prior hernias, and I am coughing to the point of throwing up now. My back legs and arms are cramping. Went to another dr today, he listened to my chest, I told him everything, and all he did was prescribe another antibiotic and send me back to bed! What should I do???

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

With such presentations in my clinic, I would first rule out serious conditions of viral fevers ( rashes) - complete blood picture to rule out the cell count, dengue profile, platlet count. x- ray chest for cough and breathlessness.

Once I am sure this is not life threatening I do continue same antibiotic( best works for sinusitis and bronchitis). For fever I would suggest you take paracetamol 500mg thrice daily and nasal decongesents xylometazoline can be tried. According to findings of investigations other medications can be started.
