Suggest Treatment For Skin Redness Around Ankles
Joint infection, Bleeding diathesis and fluid retention are the main causes
Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.
Fluid retention is the main reason of swelling and sometimes redness in the ankles, feet and legs. In this way there is a bilateral swelling. Reasons of fluid retention are cardiac, kidney, and liver diseases. Hypertension and medicines used for hypertensions are also a reason.
Unilateral swelling may be due to the joint inflammation/infection. You should have been feeling pain or stiffness in joint in this case, if this may be the reason.
Blood disorders also cause bleeding in discrete areas of the body and resultant localized swelling, redness to blue discoloration of skin.
You are doing very well by legs elevation. It will help you a lot.
When you go to your physician on 10th July, ask him for these facts to reinforce your case and get medical help in a better way.
Ask him to rule out diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemias, Thyroid disease. Ask him to go for complete metabolic profile testing. If you are taking any medications, ask your physician if it is due to the side effects of the medicine. If yes, say him to give you better alternatives. If you have leg swelling and doctor confirms on physical examination, ask him to put you on water pills like HCTZ or Furosemide after carefully taking blood pressure reading.
Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns. I will be happy to get back to you shortly. If satisfied here, please give a five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
Regards!
