Suggest Treatment For Skin Wounds Caused After An Accident
Question: I was in a bike accident 4 days back and scraped my leg and sustained some wounds. I was just wondering how I should treat it.. If I should leave it open or dress it or use some ointment? (see attached pics of the wound and the ointment I'm using right now).
And secondly, I seem to be having a couple of boils near my pubic region (pic attached). They've been there for over a month and I would like to know of a way to treat it so it disappears ?

Brief Answer:
keep covered
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It's better to apply an antibiotic cream and cover the wound for a week.
Once crust is formed you can leave it open.
Also take an oral antibiotic for 3 days.
The bumps in genital area are skin tags.
These can be easily removed using radiofrequency ablation.
Meet a dermatologist and get them removed.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Thank you for your response. Could you please suggest an antibiotic cream and oral antibiotic to take including dosage and duration?
Regarding the skin tags, is the ablation procedure harmful to the skin or expensive to undergo? Is there an alternative to remove it like using an ointment etc? (PS: I had folliculitis in my pubic region last month)

Brief Answer:
mupirocine
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
You can apply ointment mupirocine twice daily.
Tablet ciplox 500 mg twice a day for 5 days.
Skin ablation is the only treatment for this.
It is not a costly procedure and has no side effects.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Thank you... I've attached another photo now where the wound is turning white... I'm not sure if it's the crust or if it's getting infected? Also, is it OK if water touches the wound?
Brief Answer:
Healing
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
It is healing but there is slight infection.
It is better to wash the wound with warm water without rubbing it then slightly mop it with a clean cloth and apply mupirocine.
Do this twice a day and take tablet.
You will recover.
Feel free to ask any other doubts.
Thank you

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply.
If the wound is infected then is it really ok to pour water on it? I thought water will only make the infection worse.... If not then is it OK to take a shower normally?
And should I mop the wound with warm water every time I apply mupirocine?
Additionally, is it alright for me to walk out in the streets where there is dust and dirt etc.. Will it make my wound worse?
