Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome on HCM!
I reviewed your medical history and would like to explain that considering the fact you have afib, it is common to have also decreased physical tolerance.
Afib limits the ability to perform strenuous physical activity and also decrease the threshold of perceiving fatigue.
So, my advice would go in favor of decreasing your daily physical activity level and avoid endurance exertions. This way you will be in accordance with your cardiovascular ability of facing stressful activity.
Whether you are suffering from any cardiomyopathy, it could be easily investigated by several cardiac imagine studies, such as cardiac ultrasound, cardiac CT or cardiac MRI.
cardiomyopathy may be also the reason of your afib (for example: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, ischemic cardiomyopathy, cardiomyopathy from thyroid dysfunction, etc.).
But, form the other side, also afib may lead to cardiomyopathy (such as tachycardiomyopathy).
An appropriate medical therapy should be applied in each case.
That's why I agree with the doctors opinion of performing those cardiac tests (echo, MRI, Holter).
Of course, performing them without delay would be a more rational approach as it will lead to the exact cause of the cardiac disorder.
In addition, other medical tests should be performed as well:
- complete blood count,
- thyroid hormones levels,
- liver and renal function tests,
- blood electrolytes level,
- fasting blood glucose,
- plasma protein levels
In case of a raised suspicion of any metabolic cardiac involvements, additional lab tests may be required.
That's my opinion.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further questions feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
