Suggest Treatment For Soft Bump Under Skin After A Fall

Question: my son fell from the sofa onto hard floor yesterday. he had a very big bump and the impact was heavy. we took him to the ER and doctor asked us to monitor signs of vomiting and unconsciousness.
But we have not found any such signs and his activity is regular like any other day.
I can now see the bump size reduced. But the bump is soft in the centre. And I think I feel a dent.
I am really concerned abt the dent that can be felt. please let me know if its cause of concern. Attached picture of the bump.

Brief Answer:
This dent is a sign of healing
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I can understand your concern.I have seen the attached image.
The bump following fall occurs due to collection of fluid and blood in the subcutaneous space. As the bump heals it gets softened and this is the reason you are getting a dent there.
I won't get worried if bump is not increasing in size, the baby is active/playful,accepting feeds well and there is no vomiting.
It usually takes a week for the swelling to resolve.
So don't worry and observe for any abnormal symptom.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
Regards

thanks for the reply.
I have not seen he exhibited any of the above mentioned symptoms except for the loss of appetite since today morning. whereas the incident happened Sunday night.
and the dent I referred is not visible but I could feel a sharp inversion in the forehead bone which can be felt if pressed.
I may be sounding paranoid but I need your valuable advise to decide if further cat scan is needed to rule out any hematoma or any other serious issues.
Once again thanks for the reply and expecting your valuable advise.

Brief Answer:
I don't think that CT scan is needed
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up
In the absence of danger signs I don't think that CT scan is needed.
The decrease in appetite also does not seems to be related to the past incidence.
The only possibility if any is fracture of bone (although unlikely) as per your description.
If there is fracture it won't need any specific treatment. So I won't get overly worried in this scenario.
I would suggest you to get him clinically examined by a physician to check any abnormality.
I shall be glad to answer if you have any more doubts.
