Brief Answer:
Due to soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The popping of the elbow was most likely due to a dislocation that got relocated again after some time.
The soreness is likely to be due to a soft tissue injury in the area due to dislocation. It is best to give rest to the arm. Use an arm sling and avoid any activities with the injured arm. The pain should subside in 2-3 weeks. Take a mild pain killer after meals for earlier relief.
I hope this answers your query.
