Suggest Treatment For Soft Tissue Injury On Knee Cap

default
Posted on Sat, 21 Jun 2014
Question: Good morning! I tripped over my own feet outside a few minutes ago and landed on my knees and left wrist. I had a fractured left distal radius 2 years ago and had right and left total knee replacements - the right side was approximately 18 months ago. Now I have a very large 'goose egg' on my right knee cap and a painful left wrist. I am just getting over a flare from nodular vasculitis (erythema induratum) and so I'm down to 60 mg of prednisone a day. Could I have hurt my hardware or is it probably just fluid? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Description below

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Large goose egg might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury or hardware failure.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
