Suggest Treatment For Sore Cracks In The Corner Of Mouth?
Question: I have sore cracks in the corner of my mouth.both sides that are very tender.what can I use to resolve them?

This type of condition is known as "ANGULAR STOMATITIS" ( syn. CHEILOSIS ).
Although cracks at the corner of the corner of mouth is a superficial ulceration but sometimes may be due to diseases.
The corners of mouth become somewhat brown in colour, and often moist and there develop cracks. There is a burning sensation , hence patient licks the patches .They will become secondarily infected by organism as streptococcus and Candida albicans ( presumed , you are not ).
The lesions usually heal without scarring.
Treatment consists in improving general hygiene and making sure the diet is adequate ( rich in vitamins like B complex .
Apply TRIAMCILONE ACETONIDE ORAL PASTE 2-3 times in day .
You can also use a solution containing choline salicylate + tannic acid=clotrimazole +cetrimide gel.
Vitamin "C " deficiency causes such type symptoms , so take limcee or sukcee tablet 500 mg , once in day .
Take B 1, B 6 , B 12 as an OTC product.
Now 2nd reason of such cracks ( in patients > 60 years , as may be in your case).
OVERCLOSURE is the commonest cause of in angular stomatitis in older patients.
It can be seen in most marked form in the "dentureless edentulous 'people.
The condition is aggravated if the oral mucosa is atrophied or if there is tendency to seborrhoeic dermatitis.
If such is condition , please consult a dental surgeon.
