Suggest Treatment For Sore Muscle In The Throat
That however hasn't been my main symptom. I have noticed this before but blew it off when symptoms of anything started. However I rubbed it and massaged ita bunch and now is more sore.
Anyways the main thing has been a globus sensation at the bottom of the throat just above the sternum. As well as tightness of the neck and what feels like at times swollen lymph nodes under the jaw. It all goes away whenever I eat or sleep then slowly creeps back.
Massaging what feels like that sore muscle kinda seemed to relieve symptoms slightly. I'm wondering what this could be and if it's possibly causing the globus sensation and tightness in neck.
Globus sensation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Some mechanical problem in the location of your throat could be causing this sore muscle feel on the right side of your XXXXXXX apple.
This could be a laryngocoele (anomalous air sac communicating with the cavity of the larynx, which may intermittently bulge outward causing pain on the neck-seen in people with chronic obstructive airway disease and glassblowers ) or an enlargement of part of your cervical spine impinging on a nerve at that area (it may not give the feeling of a palpable lump as it is deep seated). An enlarged thyroid or thyrdoid nodule, a cartilagenous growth from vocal cord or an enlarged lymph node can also cause pain in that area but it would have caused a palpable lump.
On the other hand your entire feeling could be due to Globus sensation (sometimes called globus pharyngeus) which is a subjective feeling of a lump or foreign body in the throat. Globus sensation is just a type of somatisation disorder presenting with pseudo-neurological symptoms. However, globus sensation can have underlying physiological or anatomical causes.
A physical examination by doctor will help to determine the exact cause .
