Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this pain that you have reported. I will like to know if you have any other symptoms and for how long this pain has been going on?
If it is of acute onset and you are sure is it just the muscles, then a combination of Tylenol and Ibuprofen would produce great relief. I will recommend take doses recommended by your pharmacist. For adults, I often recommend At most 4grams of paracetamol a day in 4 divided doses and a maximum of 2.4grams of Ibuprofen in 3 divided doses. Applying cold packs and some massage would also help.
I hope this helps. If the pains should not reduce significantly within 3days, I suggest you seek examination and investigation. I wish you a speedy recovery.

It is a possibility that it is from the spine!

Hi,
If it has been going on for a few months, then seeing a pain management specialist would be of help. With you reporting that you also have a degenerative joint disease, the symptoms are suggestive and correlate.
I will like to know what come out of the visit with the pain management specialist. I wish you well.

I believe it would help!

Hi and thank you so much for this follow up.
MRI of the neck and the spine are just medical specifications on what is required. generally, MRI of the spine would focus more on the back and not the cervical region. With the specification cervical, whoever is doing the test would pay great attention to this and make sure he includes the spine as well.
Yes, this pain medication should help. I am sure that would be your observation at this time as well.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. T
