Suggest Treatment For Sore Thorat In A Child

Question: My daughter is 3 years 1 month old. She suffered from viral fever 5 days back and is now under antibiotics. She is having painful sore throat and is unable to take any food. I prefer to give her warm milk with bonvita in it, which she is taking and gets few moment relief. But just now saw an article where it is mentioned milk is not good for sore throat. Please suggest me what supplement should i give her to sooth her throat and also to get some nutrition. Should I give her junior horlicks? Please suggest some natural remedy at home as she is already taking her antibiotics. Needed most urgently.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
You have already started antibiotics, which should be continued.
Milk is not harmful , it's the added sugar which makes sore throat worse.
Give warm liquids to sooth the throat.
Try betadine gargles or chlorhexidine mouth wash to decrease the local infection.
Wishing speedy recovery.

Since she is not eating at all, can I give her yogurt (chocolate flavoured). Honey and lemon is a natural cure to sore throat. Can you please tell me how to give it and how many times that can be given to her. Can it used at night also or day times only? As a mother I cannot see her in pain and want quick recovery. Any message oil in her throat that can give her comport? Please provide necessary details.

Detailed Answer:
Chocolate flavoured should be avoided.
Honey does have sugar , it's better be avoided.
Lemon would irritate the already inflamed throat because of citric acid.
It's better to try the gargles I mentioned.
