Brief Answer:
add another mucolytic, increase fluids

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The tussin cough and chest congestion usually contains the mucolytic (medication to break up mucus), guaifenesin. It also contains a cough suppressant so though it is helping you to break up the mucus, it is also stopping you from coughing up the mucus.

This is okay at night, when you want to sleep or when coughing is affecting work or interactions but if you are able to be at home then you may just want to consider the guaifenesin (eg plain mucinex or robitussin) on its own so that when it breaks up the mucus, you can cough it up.

You can add another mucolytic such as mucomyst to work with the guaifensin and help further eliminate the mucus.

Drinking a lot of fluids help decrease thickness of secretions so that they can be easily expelled.

You would need to rest as much as possible, it can sometimes take up to 2 weeks for improvement to occur in some cases.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
