Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat While Having Acid Reflux

I am getting over a cold/sinus issue and have had a throat soreness that is somehow connected to my right ear after the majority of my symptoms have passed. When I swallow saliva or drink water it radiates to my ear when my Adam's apple bobs up and down. The soreness in my throat isn't scratchy like a sore throat it's more like a dull soreness around my Adam's apple and it is connected to my right ear somehow. My left side throat and ear are perfectly fine. I do suffer from mild acid reflux but have been getting it under control better. I am a healthy 37 year old male that eats well and exercises regularly. Thank you for your help!
nasal decongestant, lozenges, capsule omeprazole
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
In this instance, it would be worthwhile to get your nose and sinus examined by a doctor. He/she may order for a diagnostic nasal endoscopy to see any chronic source of infection.
In the interim I would recommend you
1. Drink plenty of water, especially warm, drink at regular intervals.
2. Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil 3 to four times a day.
3. Instead of saline nasal spray, use decongestant Nasal spray like xylometazoline.
4. Wash your face with warm water in night before going to bed and gently blow your nose.
5. Take over the counter oral antihistamine like ceterizine.
6. Drinking warm lemon water with honey may also help soothe a sore throat. You can also try lozenges like strepsils and cofsils which will also be helpful.
As you have mentioned about the acid reflux, it may also be responsible for your symptoms. So I would suggest you to take capsule omeprazole 20 mg once daily before breakfast for week. Along with this I would suggest you to walk for 10 to 15 minutes post eating and not to lie down immediately after eating. Avoid spicy food, alcohol and smoking.
Follow this measures, your symptoms will reduce. This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
Hope this helps.
Take care
