
Suggest Treatment For Sprain In The Ankle Post An Accident

Question: I sprained/strained my ankled two weeks ago while walking in strappy sandals. I've soaked it in witch-hazel, kept it elevated as much as possible and tried not to walk any more than necessary. It still hurts to walk on it and is swollen. How long does it take to heal this type of injury? I know it's not serious, but I really like to walk and sitting in a chair with my leg raised is very difficult. I'm a female 67 y.o. and in reasonable health.

Should I be soaking the ankle in epson salts (or something different). My aunt told me to use witchhazel. The witchhazel felt OK while soaking, but no long term healing so far. Thanks. Karon
