Suggest Treatment For Stabbing Pain In The Area Where Right Kidney Is Located
Vajramma-49F is suffering from stabbing pain at the right kidney area since 24 hours. The pain was heavy yesterday, pain is now subsided but not completely cured.
Pain started yesterday at 3:15PM, we immediately rushed to a hospital and got admitted in emergency care. Doctors first gave 2-3 pain killers injections, later performed ultrasound scanning.
After the ultrasound scanning, they told us that there are no stone in kidneys and kidneys are good.
We got dischared at 9pm and given "Ultracet" tablets.
Can you kindly help me on how to overcome this situation?.
Renal stone
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Ultrasound abdomen is not a very good modality to detect kidney stones. I recommend you to get a CT of the kidney ureter and bladder, this will tell us in more detail as to what might be the cause of the pain near the kidney area. In addition, I also recommend her to get a urine examination done to see for a passed out stone or a urinary tract infection.
The other possibilities are pancreatitis, gall bladder stone or gall bladder infection. These are rarer possibilities as these can be picked up easily on an ultrasound.
Please get the investigations I have asked for and get back to me. I will be happy to help you out.
In the mean time
1. Drink plenty of water. About 3-5 litres per day
2. Do not lift heavy weights or exert until the cause is found
3. Continue to take ultracet tablets, three tablets can be taken per day. However I must warn you that prolonged use can lead to dependancy
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
