Brief Answer:
I am sure I can come up with a treatment plan for you.

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I wish to answer your query in the psychological point of view. Mainly because Dr Saatiish Jhuntrraa has answered your previous question on 26 Jun 2014. Secondly because there are six other queries answered by other doctors in this portal and all those queries were related to sexual organ.

From these queries, it is clear that you have obsessive thinking about your sexual / stammering problems. That translates into low self esteem, anxiety, lack of self confidence, general social anxiety etc.

Stammering is psychological as well as neurological. If your stammering is neurological, your parents must have noted that in your childhood. Neurological stammering happens due to lack of proper growth of related areas in brain as well as developmental disorders. Even in that case, stammer should vanish when the child grows up.It is very much rare for a neurological stammering problem to develop at young adult period.

Psychological stammering is possible at any developmental period. Anxiety is the basic cause. Obsession follows suit. I can surely feel that your stammering is psychological because increases when you are stressed. That is also possible due to obsession. In psychology, we broadly call it obsession (Not OCD). You had that disturbing sensation once. You expected it to happen again and focused. Then you started experiencing it as you were expecting it. Then your body brought the familiar symptom because you are expecting it. Then you started worrying that the symptom is coming again and again and expect it. Body brings it again as you are expecting it. You become worried and so on. That is obsession in simple terms. Ignore it and the problem vanishes.

The treatment plan includes :

1. Stuttering modification, which helps by reducing the fear of stammering and improves confidence.

2. Psychotherapy methods which helps you to overcome anxiety issues related with stammering. For you specifically, learning to speak slowly always should help.

3. You need to improve your positive attitude, self esteem etc. You are treating yourself as a hapless guy. But in reality, you have so many positive capacities which you are ignoring. Take those positive aspects as your assets and move forward. Enjoy your life.

I am willing to help you more on this regard. Please post whatever detail you can in the follow up query. Be as descriptive as possible. Include every details about you. Be critical.

I am sure I can come up with a treatment plan for you.

God bless you.

Follow these steps and you will see the results in 3 months

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thank you for the follow up

Thanks for the details. I am sorry the given details cover only your stammering problem. I wanted to assess you comprehensively and provide therapy for the whole person and not for this specific problem.

Anyway, I shall try to provide you some tips to overcome your stammering.

1. It is very clear that your stammering manifests only when you are anxious, stressed and when you are aware of what you are going to speak.

2. Stand in front of a mirror. Talk to your mirror image, read from a news paper, books, etc. Record your speech. half an hour daily. Then play the recording. Understand the errors and reread the same passage once again with corrections. Don;t ignore this exercise. Because this exercise, if done faithfully and for over a period of time, should give you good relief.

3. Tell your stammering problem to your close friends and request their help as and when it happens. Let them correct you whenever you stammer. This way, you overcome anxiety problem related to stammering and public performance.

4. The syllables you gave as your stammering BLOCKS, are very common one and happens with almost all people with anxiety related stammering. So do not worry about it. The more worry about your stammering, the more anxious you become and the more stammering occur. Learn ot live with it and learn to ignore the problem. If you succeed in this, stammering events lessen. Think about people with physical handicaps and how they overcome and ignore the reality and perform tasks like normal person.

Follow the above steps and you will see the results in 3 months.

God bless you.
